.22 Pistol

Technically, “Bullseye” is a nickname, and the true name of this style of competition is NRA Conventional Pistol Competition. Whatever you choose to call it, Bullseye shooting is the best way to learn how to shoot a pistol well. SCC offers two pistol leagues. Whereas true NRA Conventional Pistol Competition uses both .22s and centerfires in the same match, we have traditionally run these in two different leagues. .22 is NRA qualified, following all the rules. Centerfire is a bit more difficult, so we forgoe the NRA rules in one or two aspects of the league.

.22 Pistol League kicks off on the first Thursday in January. The first night is always a registration session and safety briefing. Any .22 rimfire pistol is eligible, revolver or automatic. (Someone even shot a bolt-action .22 pistol one year, and did surprisingly well except for, of course, Rapid Fire.) The course is a National Match Course: 10 shots Slow Fire (in 10 minutes), 10 shots Timed fire (two strings of five shots, 20 seconds each) and 10 shots Rapid Fire (two strings of five shots, 10 seconds each). Don’t let this complex description scare you off. Come on out and watch the first night and we guarantee you, you’ll be ready to compete in no time. League shoots for 14 weeks, with your worst two scores thrown out. At end of the league, the entire group will be divided into four equal classes, so most people have no idea what class they’re in until Awards Night. The top four scorers in each class receive awards and certificates, plus Most Improved (from the first half to the second half) and Top Gun. A nominal fee will be charged for the league and includes targets, the Awards, and Fun Night party (free refreshments). Most of the shooters are still learning, so come out and hone your pistol shooting skills!

See your Newsletter for a Contact and phone number.

The Pistol Range will be closed on Thursday evenings for league setup at 5:30pm, with league starting at 6:00 pm. Thanks.
