These are the current rules and procedures for the Stoughton
Conservation Club. Members are responsible for knowing them.
Violations of rules and procedures is grounds for disciplinary action,
which can range from warnings to expulsion for life. Ignorance of the
rules is not a defense. Above all, our rules and procedures were
created to foster safety. UNSAFE BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, and
just because it is not stated in our Rules and Procedures does not
mean it is not unsafe behavior. Use common sense and common courtesy.
Note to other clubs: we created this latest revision of the rules from
our own rules and from those of other clubs posted on the Internet. It
is in that spirit that we post our rules here. If you are another club
and wish to use any part of our rules and procedures, please feel
free. If you have any questions about them or wish a copy of them in
another format, click on "Contact Us" in the navbar on the left side
of the Homepage and let us know how we can help.

Interested in becoming a member of the Stoughton Conservation Club?
Well here is how you do it. All prospective members must attend a mandatory orientation session. During the orientation, prospective members are informed of the Club’s resources, opportunities for recreation, and most importantly the rules and regulations.
After the orientation, prospective members fill out a membership application, access information card form and pay fees ($115.00). Currently the fees are $75.00 annual membership fee, and a one time $30.00 initiation and $10.00 access card fee.
Orientation sessions are given the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. "SHARP" in the "New Clubhouse". Late arrivals will not be admitted to the orientation.
Presently, dues are $75 a year. A member’s immediate household family is considered part of that membership. They may use all the facilities but only when accompanied by the registered member.
There is a $30 Initiation Fee for the first year, and $10 deposit for the magnetic key card that will give you access to the facilities whenever you want.
The Board has voted that spouses of members may purchase a second key card if they take the enrollment orientation. Members had requested such a set-up so Moms could take the kids to the facilities when Dad (usually the member of record) is at work. The same Superivision rules apply – an adult must be close enough to children to prevent accidents.
Members may bring guests to use the Club facilities. ONLY 1 (ONE) GUEST PER REGISTERED MEMBER IS ALLOWED. This means exactly what it says. A member may not bring two, three, four or more guests. A member may only bring one. Period.
A Conservation Club is a big responsibility. There’s safety issues, membership issues, leagues, buildings & grounds ... it just never ends. The thing we need the least is outsiders breaking in and using the facilities on off hours, damaging our facilties, or - worse yet - members purposely breaking the rules and risking the entire Club’s well being. It’s all happened, and more than once. That is why The Board installed a video surveilance system. Multiple cameras at multiple locations record all movement, all the time. So don’t bother breaking in or breaking rules. We’ll not only know who you are, but what you were wearing when you did it.
Here the Board lays out the policy for the new security system and the committee overseeing it. We believe members in good standing won’t be bothered by the existance of the system, since a) they obey the rules, and b) our Committee/Board are the only ones who’ll see the tapes, and only if there’s an infraction reported.
OFFICIAL NOTICE: The Stoughton Conservation Club (SCC) depends on its members donating their time and energy to keep The Club moving forward. By doing so, SCC has been able to offer many sporting opportunities and services to its members that would not be available otherwise. In return, we expect our members to comply with the rules and regulations set to ensure the safety of our neighbors and ourselves. To help aid the enforcement of Club rules, we have installed security cameras on The Club’s premises. Following is The Club’s policy regarding security and discipline.
Stoughton Conservation Club’s Policy on Security and Discipline
April 1, 2002
The committee for the security system will consist of a combination of both directors and/or officers from the board.
The committee should be advised of any noncompliant issues, the committee will act on case-by-case basis, to each of the complaints. It is up to the committee on the actions that will be taken, if any, for failure to comply.
The committee will advise the board of any actions deemed necessary to be taken. The board will have the final decision on the actions that are to be taken.
Each director/officer has the authority to contact individuals who are not following the rules set forth by this board, and the committee must be notified of any discussion that transpired, if any, for the sole purpose of record keeping.
Only the board will view the videos unless determined otherwise.

25 Firearms Defense Course Handgun Safety/Self-Defense/Legality/Permit-to-Carry Course
This course was offered to Club members for the last three years. We received quite favorable feedback, so it has returned.
How many of us have a firearm in our home for protection? Plenty. Now, how many of us have had certified training on legalities of using force to protect ourselves and families when threatened by a predator. Darn few. That’s why we offer this course.
Topics covered will be legalities of using force, or threatening to use it, in self-defense, so law enforcement recognizes you’re actions as justifiable rather than criminal; actions you must take and must not take before and after a defensive gun use if you want to stay out of prison; legalities of possessing defensive firearms in your home, business, and during travel by land and air; discovering or getting re-acquainted with sound handgun shooting fundamentals; great big dose of safety and hands-on instruction on handling, loading, unloading, shooting and clearing of both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols; immediate action drills for clearing stoppages; handgun types that help vs. hinder your struggle for survival during a defensive gun use; the most effective ammunition products for self-defense; live-fire drills; safe carry and concealment methods; personal protection tactics; and defensive shooting accuracy … skills you need to competently serve as your own first-responder while protecting yourself and loved ones before law enforcement can arrive on the scene.
Upon your successful completion of the course, you will be provided a document attesting your graduation from the training required to apply for a permit-to-carry a concealed weapon from the state of Utah. Your Utah permit will be valid for lawful carry in 28 states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, DE, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, OH, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WY. This training is also valid for permit applications to FL, NH, ME, and CT.
The Utah-certified instructor is Michael Bender. Michael holds a number of personal-defense certifications as listed on the Personal Protection Academy website: www.PPA-WI.com.
This is a one-day course, 8:30-5:00, Sunday, July 25th, conducted in the Pistol Range Building. Bring a sack lunch, your handgun, 50 rounds of range ammunition (FMJ is OK), and eye and ear protection.
If you don’t own a handgun, please don\'t purchase something prior to class as equipment suited for self-defense is a major topic in this course. Simply let Michael know during your registration that you would like to borrow a firearm for the day.
Standard tuition for this course is $200. But Personal Protection Academy is reducing tuition to $165 for those pre-registering by June 15. $25 of that will be collected in cash on the day of class and will go to The Club.
To register or for more info contact Michael or Jenifer Bender at Personal Protection Academy: toll-free, (888) 657-4668. Participation will be limited to 40 members (and it is for SCC Members ONLY).
The Pistol Range building will be closed 8:30am-5:00pm Sunday, July 25th.
